Tennis Elbow

With the Aus Open getting to the business end of the tournament the time on court increases and injuries can develop, particularly in the elbow.

Whether you are a professional tennis player, a weekend warrior, tradie or office worker pain in the elbow, commonly referred to as “tennis elbow” (elbow tendinitis) can develop. In fact, about 90% of tennis elbow cases occur in people who have never played tennis!

Tennis elbow develops with any repetitive activity that puts pressure on the extensor tendons of the forearm where they attach to the elbow. The repetitive activity causes inflammation and pain where the tendons attach, causing swelling, decreased flexibility and a loss of grip strength and power.

At Ormond Physiotherapy our experienced physiotherapists will be able to assess your elbow pain and create a suitable rehabilitation program to get you back on track quickly.

Some effective strategies to treat the dreaded tennis elbow include sports massage, taping, strength exercises and effective bracing which can be properly fitted at Ormond Physiotherapy.
